Feature request: Accept images in next-gen formats

AndreaAndrea Member Posts: 2

As Google prioritizes mobile experience, having a fast page load speed is essential. Images are a big time suck in page load; Google's PageSpeed Insights recommends that we "Serve images in next-gen formats" - "Image formats like JPEG 2000, JPEG XR, and WebP often provide better compression than PNG or JPEG, which means faster downloads and less data consumption."

I would love to see Lightspeed Retail / eCom start accepting these other formats for better SEO / customer experience as soon as possible!

    Hi @Andrea ,

We have a feature request to support the next-gen image formats.

I will make sure to create and tag a support ticket under your organization so that we can document your feedback. However, there is no ETA as to when this will be implemented.

I am only tagging this ticket to the feature request for documentation purposes.

YES PLEASE! That would be unreal, to be able to upload WebP format for product images.
