New gift card scanning issues

I was told they will update this but I thought I would list two problems with the new gift cards scanning: In the search by gift card code box, you cannot scan in the barcode off the card as the title suggests--you have to enter it in manually. Also, when you go to refund a sale back to a gift card from the sales history page and scan the card, the last digit is dropped off. You must manually enter the last number of the gift card for the credit to apply. Hopefully these will be addressed soon as I am trying to write a book of procedures for my employees to follow and their are lots of inconsistencies like these.
