You can view this by going into the item's history card and viewing the lines that note a change in cost was done and no quantity was modified. (example below)

If the price change was done in a sale, the event log of that sale would include what was inputted as the final price. In the item card, if the price is changed there and then sold later on, no. Those logs are not kept in the software for the time being.

This is very surprising. Wrong of me to update pricing in a couple of categories without realizing that there is no practical way to track changes.
I updated retail prices on a large number of items to reflect ongoing cost changes and to fix prior mistakes. I have to give my staff directions on what items to re tag for retail.
In this day and age we are receiving notification of price increases on multiple items almost every day. Many of these changes require us to update sales prices before we receive goods. Otherwise we are taking orders at old prices and filling orders at new costs. This situation is common in any time of inflation or of market disturbance. We are now in the 21st month of major market disturbance. To not have recognized and solved the tracking required in this situation is a major failing on the part of Lightspeed. Please fix this.
If we can't see who made changes, and when they were made, it becomes difficult or impossible to follow up with employees who are cutting corners or making mistakes. We have a lot of people involved in inventory management, and one solution certainly would be to more tightly restrict permissions and separate duties; but that would present major operational hurdles for us, as most of our associates have overlapping responsibilities. Very often we have to live with small mistakes in the moment, then look back when there sufficient time and plan future improvement. Please improve the inventory logs, it would be really helpful in that process.
We'd absolutely like to have employee price changes reportable, too. I don't even mind researching the details of the change/s if I could just see "Emp X" changed a price on this day.
We really need this feature. Especially when bulk imports can affect existing inventory prices and there's no way to know which ones to re-price on your floor. With freight and inflation sky rocketing, every price is changing!
@Jessica Phillips and anyone else, I have an app that has this capability. Unfortunately due to limitations with lightspeed, it can't pick up past changes, but, if one were to sign up, it would keep track of all future price changes. If anyone is interested, email me at [email protected] and I can set up a demo!
If it were an option! It's difficult enough even trying to get in touch to become a partner. I know adding on more stuff to just get basic features that probably should exist sucks. But these kinds of requests have been on the road map for years with little to no progress. So, I just decided build them where I could.

I'm looking for a history of price changes, not cost changes. Is there a log for that?

I would definitely like to see price changes and the employee ID who made the price change as a logged part of the item record history.
Hey @EricRiley
Thanks for providing the feedback! I'll note it.

I also support this request.

I too would like to request this feature.

Hey Matt - you should sell it to Lightspeed, which we've already bought!

I fully support the ability to track price changes and who made them.
There is so much data that id logged with LS Retail, it's amazing that it is not already available.
